Co-Director of CIO Council

Background:

Brian Murray is a Senior IT Service Management Practitioner with extensive, broad based IT and retail experience gained during his career at Hbc. He has a proven track record in strategic planning and thought leadership with a pragmatic planning approach, specializing in IT Service Management; and Business Continuity (Disaster Recovery and Crisis Management).
 
Brian’s experience encompasses many facets of IT, including Operations, application design and development as well as management of a mid-sized regional Data Centre for Hbc. He subsequently joined Hbc’s emerging corporate IT function where he provided application development, project management and portfolio management services for Inventory, Vendor Management, Logistics, Payroll and Executive Bonus Systems. Next, as manager of the Development Centre / Project Office he led a re-engineering initiative that dramatically improved Hbc’s application development and support team capabilities by creating a productive development environment including all supporting technical education, reference and research services.
 
Brian was involved from the early phases in development of Hbc’s IT Service Management process improvement initiative where he crafted Hbc’s overall IT Service Management strategy and was accountable for Hbc’s IT Business Continuity program, Change & Problem Management.
 
Brian sits on the board of the CIPS Toronto Section where he is an active contributor to the CIPS Toronto BCM SIG and to the CIO Networking Series forum. Brian also is Secretary on the CIPS Ontario Board.
