How CIPS Toronto Works

CIPS Toronto is volunteer organization of people just like you.

We work in partnership with the National office and our peers across Canada to help shape public policy and establish guidelines for Professionalism. To provide leadership in information systems and technologies by developing and promoting quality standards and practices, research, certification, and professional development while safeguarding the public interest.

For example we are involved in a number of initiatives related to setting standards within the IT profession. Two of the main programs are: the certification of individual IT practitioners (the I.S.P. designation) and the accreditation of computer science programs in Canadian Colleges and Universities.

Each month we get together for events to discuss many of the pressing issues our members face in their "day-to-day".

Topics include:

  • Finding the right Job for new Canadians
  • Agile development best practices
  • Exploring Outsourcing and how it affects Canadians
  • ISP Week (Canadian Professional Certification)
  • Business Continuity Management / Disaster Recovery
  • Gadget Week
