Networking Opportunities

CIPS members are as diverse as the IT Industry; they can be found at all levels of both the public and private sectors. CIPS members possess high levels of technical expertise and are in touch with the latest trends in IT. By becoming a CIPS member you will have the opportunity to network with others in the industry and share the knowledge you have. CIPS offers several types of networking opportunities both locally through your sections’ monthly events and nationally through accessing members on the CIPS on-line member directory or though one of CIPS discussion lists. Volunteering for CIPS also offers many opportunities to network with business and government leaders and to develop strong personal and business contacts.

Advocacy

We take our fight to Ottawa and Queens Park. National and international standards, professionalism, education and training, encroachment, and privacy are some of the pressing IT issues under discussion by industry and government. Out of these discussions come decisions which have a direct impact on your profession. Through CIPS advocacy activities, the concerns of Canadian IT professionals are heard by all stakeholders and are given a place in the decision making process.

Professional Certification of the I.S.P.C.

Like engineers, doctors, and lawyers, IT workers now have a "legally recognized" designation.

CIPS is the governing body for the INFORMATION SYSTEMS PROFESSIONAL OF CANADA (I.S.P.C).

Only those who have passed the Exams and Requirements of the ISPC are entitled to be certified. You must be a member of CIPS to be entitled to apply for the legal designation of ISPC. This designation holds serious responsibilities and proper recognition of IT Professionals.
