You may have heard talk about SRED (Scientific Research and Experimental Development). Some people pronounce it SHRED.

Listen as our experts explains the potential opportunities:

  • As an insider, the IT contractor is in a position to understand the gaps and therefore the potential product development opportunities in the client environment that could be financed through SRED
  • As an experienced IT professional, the IT contractor is in a position to assist in developing the supporting technical background for a SRED application

Jason Schwandt, P. Eng, MBA

Jason Schwandt is the Vice President of Business Development for Techcentive Services Inc (TSI). A member of Professional Engineers Ontario and the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers, he holds an Electrical Engineering & Management degree and MBA (Management of Innovation) from McMaster University. Mr. Schwandt has addressed numerous industry and professional associations over the last several years to provide insight into the SR&ED tax credit program and other government incentive programs. His consulting work at TSI includes assisting clients in various industries including those in the software, I/T, and telecommunications segments. Prior to joining TSI, Mr. Schwandt was employed for over 10 years in various leadership roles in engineering, program management, operations, and corporate strategy at Celestica, a global contract electronics manufacturer.


Katrina Carpenter, P. Eng, PMP

As a SR&ED technical consultant with Techcentive Services Inc (TSI), Katrina Carpenter is also a member of both the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) and the Project Management Institute (PMI). She holds a Bachelors of Science (Engineering) degree in Computer Systems. With over 12 years experience in various leadership roles in I/T product development, Katrina has actively managed and participated in hardware and software engineering teams ensuring business requirements and scope are achieved with quality compliance for EMI/EMC and ISO 9001 standards. Her extensive background in product development lifecycle management allows her to effectively assist SR&ED clients in a wide range of I/T sectors including web development environments, network communication, software application development, PCB electrical design and chassis mechanical product design. As a Technical Consultant, Katrina not only provides client support and guidance with regard to SR&ED claims but also the direction and leadership to assist clients with their product development processes to generate the necessary substantiating evidence and documentation to support a SR&ED claim to the CRA.
